A short great hike only 9 miles from Aspen, Colorado. Weller Lake Trail offers a forest hike, some rock scrambling and a scenic lake for relaxing.
Weller Lake Trail
This is a great short hike through a green forest leading to a very scenic little lake. The only issue we experienced was when the trail appeared to go into the rocks or on through the forest. Once we saw the lake for the first time, we worked our way to the shore and worked our way over the rocks without any issues.
From Aspen, drive approximately 9 miles east on Highway 82 until you see the Weller Lake Trailhead on the right side of the road. There is a parking area right next to the trailhead. If you miss it, you will see Weller Campground on your left and a great place to turn around…as well as camp!

Getting Close to the Lake
There is Weller Lake! We are close now.
Beautiful lake and a perfect day!
We camped at Weller Campground just minutes from this trailhead and not far from Aspen. We wanted to do a short morning hike before heading to our next destination. Weller Lake Trail was the perfect trail as it’s only 1 mile round trip and crosses a stream, goes through a forest, over rocks and finally chill at a scenic lake.
